Even if you have a rental 4WD you have no idea how to operate, it's probably a good idea to park it at the 2WD parking area and either walk or pay for a ride with the park's own drivers the last bit to Sossusvlei. If not, you're probably going to end up paying them to drag your stuck car out of the sand anyway.
