Vi. Er. Friiiiii! Grensekontrollen gikk så greit at, om enn noe tregt, og nå ruller vi over elva og inn i Kina. Kinesere er kinesere, så de har bygd en imponerende fasade av høyhus og neonlys på sin side av elva, for å demonstrere hvem det er som er storebror i dette grenseforholdet.

En gammel ødelagt bro har blitt gjort om til et utkikkspunkt hvor turister kan komme og betrakte elendigheten på den andre siden. Få steder i verden er kontrasten mellom to samfunn større og mer momentan enn her.
