Sånn ser Cape Town ut når man står på et lita strand ute på Robben Island, fengelsøya hvor Nelson Mandela ble holdt i forvaring en god stund. Med denne utsikten kan man for så vidt godt forstå at han holdt ut.

Bak byen ser du Table Mountain, og ja, det går fint an å gå opp der, men det er best å gjøre det fra baksiden. Foran Table Mountain ligger en formasjon som de bare kaller for Løvehodet. Du ser kanskje hvorfor. (Jeg tror kanskje at jeg gjør det.)

Sentrum av Cape Town ligger inne i bukta mellom Løvehodet og Table Mountain. På utsiden av Løvehodet er det boligstrøk for folk som liker og har penger nok til å bo bra langs strandpromenaden. Og godt ute av syne, bak Table Mountain og lenger østover, der ligger slummen.

Behind the city you see Table Mountain. And yes, you can climb it, but it's best done from the other side of it. the foreground you can see another peak, "Lion's Head". Maybe you can see why it's called that. (I think that maybe I can)

The centre of Cape Town is located around a bay between those two mountains. Between Lion's Head and the sea, well-situated people live, close to the nice promenade by the water. Behind Table Mountain and to the east, well away from this view, you find the poor townships.
