Tehranians only escape from the cars is to head for the large bazaar. It's a huge shopping area for all kinds of things that will never go well with the rest of your belongings back home. The range of useless items is quite stunning, and the Iranian way of presenting numbers makes it impossible at first to understand what anything costs. If something costs 390,000 riyals, they may well present it as 390,000 riyals, 39,000 toman, or just 39 toman. Or, if they really want to treat you as a stupid foreigner, they'll ask a ludicrous price in dollars or euros. Either way, you have no way to decide whether it's a good deal or not. Not that you will do much shopping or even bargaining here anyway. Instead, you will continuously jump out of the way of the infinite row of sharp-edged trolleys bringing goods to and from the many stalls.

This place is almost worse than the streets of Tehran outside.
