Tyrkia er et sekularisert land, selv om så å si alle er muslimer. De fleste av dem er ganske så liberale, så når du i Istanbul ser en burkha eller en eller annen variant av slør, så er det store sjanser for at du har møtt på en turist. Hun her er for eksempel fra Afrika.

"Tyrkias far", Kemal Ataturk, ville gjøre tyrkerne mer europeiske. Sløret ville han for eksempel gjerne kvitte seg med. Siden han var en smarting, så gjorde han det ikke forbudt å gå med slør. I stedet gjorde han det påbudt å gå med slør. For prostituerte. Dermed sluttet de fleste andre med det.
